A One Hour Workout is 4% of your day – No Excuses!!!
How true!!! I am so guilty of this. On days that I don’t teach or get up and go take a class, I get busy in my computer – sitting on my bootie – and despite my best intentions, never get my own workout in.
Why???? I LOVE barre! I own two studios and can choose the instructor that I want to take – and I chose the instructors I wanted to hire – so I feel like I have some of the best – right???
Sheer lack of discipline! I get busy in the details of my business, and sometimes lose sight of the fact that I am a better business owner when I take good care of myself! I have more energy after my workout. I’m more mentally focused. I feel more accomplished, and less likely to get weighed down when something doesn’t go right. So why don’t I make that my every morning routine? I don’t know! It’s one of the things I am really trying to examine in my own life!
As we go into the Lorna Jane Warm It Up May Challenge, I have had my instructors ask me if they can participate! I LOVE that! Maybe this is MY opportunity to make a promise to myself that I am going to take class a minimum of five days a week as well! So far – two days down in the first week – and I feel great!
How about you – what are some of your excuses? And what can you do to get past it in the month of May?

When I left corporate America to open Xtend Barre Carlsbad and Xtend Barre Carmel Valley, I found that I spend a lot of my time reading about health, fitness, women, weight loss, and our hormones. No matter how much I read, I still feel completely unintelligent on this subject!
So, what do you do, when you don’t know something? You look around and try to find who you feel are the absolute experts on the subject. I am so excited to say that I have been seeing the amazing Dr. Lauren Noel and Dr. Amanda Ward at Bloom Natural Health. I am just getting started in my journey, but am planning on documenting my experience with these amazing women.
Bloom Natural Health is a Natural Medicine Center in Encinitas, California. They are a practice of women, designed FOR women and their specialized health needs! And although they are able to prescribe medicine for your ailments, they believe that rather than prescribing medication to treat symptoms, we should instead get to the bottom of the root problems, and try to treat them – ideally with more natural remedies.
We have invited the ladies of Bloom Natural Health to Xtend Barre Carmel Valley to talk to our clients and discuss how our hormones may be keeping us from our ideal health or weight. Please join us on Saturday, March 31st. We will be holding a 70 minute barre bootcamp class at 9:30, then Bloom will be there to provide you with their proprietary Skinny Shot, and answer your weight loss questions.
Please go online and make a reservation for the class. If you are unable to make class, but would like to participate in the workshop, please call the studio and provide your name and email! We look forward to seeing you Saturday!

One of the things I love most about my job is all of the other women’s health and wellness practitioners I deal with on a daily basis!
I guess one of the other things that I really love is that I consider meeting with these women – often to do treatments myself – work! Lucky me!
One of the women I have happened to meet over the past few months is Rebecca Underdown from Essencia Acupuncture! We struck up an immediate friendship, and admiration for what the other was doing, and I started to see her for theta-acupuncture treatments a couple of months ago. I went the first time for digestion – one of my biggest ongoing problems – and one of the reasons I’m always on the quest for something that will work for me – whether it be a juice cleanse, acupuncture, a gluten free diet, or whatever else it may be.
Although I still have some work to go on my digestion (after all, it did take me 35 years to mess it up so bad!), the things that I have found coming from my treatments are learning to let go of stresses, less insomnia – with better quality sleep, and better mindfulness regarding my eating habits – paired with less cravings and better digestion.
Because I had never done acu-theta, I figured a number of our clients had not as well. So, Rebecca very generously offered all of our clients an introductory package -
two sessions for $49 – a $250 value!
If you are interested, please call Rebecca at Essencia Acupuncture at (631) 875-6109 and tell her you want to try the Xtend Barre Introductory Package!
